The most important skill you will acquire by practicing this particular class
is the breathing and sounding techniques. This is the only
program that teaches this, and it is what will get you through labor contractions.
Please don’t look over this part of the class. By practicing over and
over again during your pregnancy, you will be prepared and comfortable in labor
to use your voice and sound through every contraction. By inhaling a deep breath
at the start of a contraction and then exhaling that breath with a low sound
through the entire contraction, you will create relaxation throughout your entire
body. When all of the muscles are relaxed in your body the contractions will
hurt less.
When you tense your muscles which happen because of fear and pain, they will
hurt more. This breathing and sounding will help you focus and help you to surrender
your mind and body to the natural birth process. While sounding as your exhale
during contractions you will also be able to release fear. By being relaxed
and fearless your cervix will melt away and you will open faster. After every
contraction is over, you will release it with a deep cleansing breath. Focused
and clam you rest and prepare for the next one.
