I
was the first in my nursing school to be able to work in Maternity for
my Practical Rotation. During this time, I was approached by my friend
and colleague Dr. Kelley Valle, OB/GYN (who was pregnant at the time and
taking my yoga class) with the proposal to make an instructional prenatal
yoga video. We did just that and Birthwell Yoga has been available on
the market ever since.
After graduating RN school in 2001, I moved up to the Berkshire Mountains
of Mass. I was hired by Fairview Hospital for my first nursing job in
Labor and Delivery. Working nights in this little hospital was wonderful
because I was able to give all my patients TLC and great Doula support
as their nurse. But alas, this town was too small for me and I longed
for the adventure of the big city, so I packed up and moved to Los Angeles
in January 2006.
Currently, I reside in in beautiful Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles, California.
I work as a birth doula, postpartum doula and play drums in an all woman
world music band. I work as a back up for Doulas, as a home birth assistant,
as well as teach yoga at Yo Mama Yoga in Santa Monica. This spring, I
will begin working towards my masters in Nurse Midwifery through the Philadelphia
University long distance Midwifery education program.
